Background Information

Today’s young people are living in an exciting time, with an increasingly diverse and mobile society, new technology and expanding opportunities. To help ensure that they are prepared to become the next generation of parents, workers, leaders, and citizens, every trainee requires support, guidance and opportunities during young adulthood – a time of rapid growth and change.

Young Adults face unique and diverse challenges, both personally and developmentally, that impact on academic achievement. The college counselor’s role is to promote emotional, social and personal development in trainees, in collaboration with trainees, parents, teachers, administrators and community agencies. Some of our many functions at Bungoma North TVC include counseling trainees, their families and the community to foster growth in the trainees’ self-esteem, individual responsibility and in skills such as decision making.

Our Mission:

The Guidance and Counseling Unit is committed to providing comprehensive support services that enhance trainees' academic, career, and personal development. Through professional counseling, mentorship, and targeted programs, we strive to:

  • Assist trainees in overcoming academic and personal challenges.
  • Promote mental health awareness and emotional well-being.
  • Provide career guidance and skill development for future success.
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity, respect, and ethical decision-making.
  • Equip trainees with coping strategies for personal and professional growth.
